Blood donation drive: young members answer the call

Members turned out in strength for the wing’s monsoon blood donation drive, organised with a government hospital blood bank.

Blood banks run short every monsoon. This year the Youth Wing's district units partnered with a government hospital blood bank to hold a one-day donation drive — and members responded warmly.

The day

Registration opened at 8 am with a quick screening — haemoglobin, blood pressure and weight — by the hospital team. First-time donors were paired with experienced ones, and volunteers kept everyone supplied with juice and biscuits afterwards.

Why it matters

A single donation can help up to three patients: accident victims, mothers during childbirth, children with thalassaemia and patients in surgery. Regular donors are the backbone of every blood bank.

Join the donor network

When you register in the eCensus, you can choose to be listed as a blood donor with your blood group. The upcoming Blood Donor network will let hospitals and families reach willing donors in their own district — only with your consent, and you can switch it off at any time.

Our next camp is listed on the Events page.
